January is usually a quiet time for the film industry, but two major movies open this weekend, both aiming to capture Box Office gold.
Cloverfield- The much anticipated new offering from JJ Abrams started drawing buzz late last year when a trailer showing NY being destroyed by an unseen creature hit movie theatres unsuspectingly. The movie poster has a powerful image of a headless Statue of Liberty. I have refused to read reviews as I do not want to be spoiled on the identity of the creatures. Reviews have been generally positive. Should be good times.
27 Dresses- I have actually seen this movie, and can provide a mini review. The title says it all, always a bridesmaid never a bride. Coming off her star making turn in Knocked Up. Katherine Heigel follows that up with an equally delightful film. I was a little hesitant before going to see it, but I laughed my ass off, and it was a funny sweet romantic comedy that we truly haven't seen since Julia Robert was residing in Notting Hill, or trying to ruin her best friend's wedding. James Marsden is finally a leading man, and does a terrific job. This is one of those review proof flicks, so don't listen to the reviews! I definitely recommend this movie!
