Last week's episode was hyped as a totally jaw dropping amazing episiode, and it didn't really live up to the hype in my book. This week's episode had no buildup, and it was Sayid-centric which for me usually means the episode is going to be pretty boring, and Sayid is going to go back and forth between torturing someone and being an Iraqui with a heart of gold. How wrong I was! This episode was fantastic! Sayid's flash-forward was very interesting.
Here is what we know: Sayid is the 4th member of the Oceanic 6. We now know that Ben gets off the Island, and probably Desmond too. They are not part of the Oceanic 6 because they were not on the original flight. I also do not think that Ben is the one dead person who was in the coffin in the season 3 finale. It seems to me that we are seeing everyones flash-forward, where they are in life after the island, and this is all building up to them all getting back together and returning to the Island to save their friends. No way that Ben isn't involved in the final endgame. My theory on the last 2 members of the Oceanic 6 are Sawyer and Sun, or Sun and Jin.
On to thoughts and questions about the episode:
The Ben reveal- Ben is controlling Sayid and basically has him as a personal assassin. Sayid is clearly being blackmailed by threats of the safety of the remaining people on the island. It's pretty cool though to see Sayid on the island exclaiming how he would never trust Ben in a million years juxtaposed with him having to work for Ben. Ben is pretty much the most complex character on the show. The man with a hundred passports. Not sure if the passports have any more significance other that the fact that he had multiple aliases.
The Bracelet- Sayid goes over to Naomi's body and closes her eyes, we see her bracelet and the inscription from RG. Cut to Sayis's girl that he kills, and she too is wearing the same bracelet. Not sure if we the inscription on that or not. I thought Sayid gave her the bracelet, but then I realized the inscription wouldn't make sense. Could that bracelet be some sort of sign that the woman worked for the same people as Naomi?
The Hurley Scam- Hurley duping Sayid, Kate, and Miles came out of nowhere for me. I though that's how they were going to explain how Hurley becomes one of the Oceanic 6, but alas I was mistaken, and stunned when Locke said "Thanks Hugo." That was pretty awesome. I hate how everyone just completely trusts Locke now, even though they are somewhat wary of him. They have blindly let him be their leader, and it just doesn't seem right.
The Time Shift- The rocket that landed on the island sure took a long time to reach it's destination didn't it. What should have taken 3 minutes took 31...or did it? Is there a time shift on the island? could the island be contained in some sort of bubble force field with it's own time shift? I have no idea how to theorize this especially since I suck at math!
The Takeoff- Sayid and Desmond takeoff in the Helicopter! So awesome they are getting off the island...or are they? I can't imagine they won't run into some sort of turbulence or problem getting to the freighter where they will inevitably meet Ben's spy, Michael.
Next week's episode is Kate-centric, so I bet we learn who her man is, and how she got away from going to jail.
